As an accredited American correspondent, Erika Mann had followed the Nuremberg Trials from the day they began on 20 November 1945. She wrote regular reports for the London Evening Standard; during a 14-minute radio interview, she explained the legal peculiarities of the trials and their significance for world history. The interviewer was Golo Mann, who as an American soldier and radio commentator had been helping to establish Radio Frankfurt in Bad Nauheim since the autumn of 1945.
