Erika Mann: Stoffel fliegt übers Meer. Erstausgabe, Stuttgart 1932

In her first children’s book, Erika Mann tells the story of a son of poor parents who stows away in an airship to visit his wealthy uncle in America and rescues the airship from great danger on the way. On his arrival, he is celebrated as a hero.
The book was illustrated by the painter and graphic designer Richard Hallgarten (1905–1932), who had accompanied Erika Mann on her 10,000 km journey through Europe.
