Albert Ehrenstein: Postcard to his brother Carl (1937)

Die deutsche Emigranten- und Naziliteratur ist steril geworden [...].

[The German emigre and Nazi literature has become sterile [...]. (ed.trans)]

Albert Ehrenstein to his brother Carl on May 10, 1937

During his stay in Switzerland, Albert Ehrenstein lived primarily in Brissago. From here he corresponded, among others, with his brother, who had lived in London since 1928 and had been trying to make his way as a literature agent and translator. Albert knew about Carl's temporary motivational struggles. Despite his own difficulties, Ehrenstein tried to relieve these difficulties from his Swiss exile with literary news, which Carl could use for his work. In this postcard, Erich Maria Remarque, Ludwig Renn, and Herman Kesten are referenced, among others.
