During his journey through the Sahara, Richard A. Bermann recorded his impressions by hand in a notebook. The pages are filled with dense handwriting. Bermann‘s handwriting is easily legible. It sometimes drifts upwards from the horizontal but nonetheless gives the impression of great care. Bermann summarises units of meaning in paragraphs. He leaves a blank margin next to the seam of the notebook.
